A nice restaurant in hotel amd McDonalds and Wendys across street. Other food places within walking distance. Very clean-a good choice to stay.

My daughter and I stayed there recently on a visit to a nearby college. The location is great and there was abundant free parking in their lot. Close to the Parthenon, food and shops. It is also only a mile or two to the downtown bar scene and museums. The check-in attendants were very friendly and courteous. I had read recent posts about the remodeling. Rooms have been updated nicely; flat screen t.v., new carpet, sheets, updated shower with sliding glass doors, granite/marble looking counters in the bathroom. Everything was exceptionally clean. The room even had a microwave and refrigerator which was a plus. The only thing I didn't like was the bed- hard as a rock!!

The lobby was under renovation, but I guess they'd completed the work on the upper floors. We stayed on the top floor and had a great view of Vanderbilt stadium. The room had brand new carpet, and was overall very nice. Parking was easy and free, the people at the desk were helpful and friendly (provided us with free razors and shaving cream as we'd forgotten to pack these.) Only negative comment would be the internet access in the lobby. I'm not sure whether there's wi-fi in the hotel as we did not bring any computers with us, but we wanted to use the computers in the lobby to print our boarding passes for the flight home. The computer was PAINFULLY slow and only 1 of the 2 computers was hooked up to the printer. So we had to sit there and watch this inconsiderate guest check the news and weather for 30 minutes so we could use the computer he was on to print. Also the bathroom door didn't close all the way, but we propped it shut and didn't really care. Would definitely stay here again.

I was returning to Nashville for a quarterly business meeting and was unable to get my usual downtown hotel. I had heard, second hand, that the Holiday Inn Select Vanderbuilt was a good place to stay. I would not have considered it at all except it advertised a free shuttle service to locations within a 3 mile radius, with my meeting location 2 miles away.

What the site and staff neglect to tell you is that the hotel has a contract with baseball teams. The teams get first priority, no one else can ride the shuttle when a baseball team is on the shuttle, it takes at least three trips for the shuttle to get a team where they need to go, and apparently only a team can reserve the shuttle.

I waited over an hour in triple-degree temperatures for the shuttle. Everytime I called, the shuttle was "just another few minutes."

Taxi from the hotel to the downtown area in no traffic is about $*

Aside from the shuttle issue, the hotel was adequate. The rooms were ok, the staff were ok, etc. There are two in-house dining options - a restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch, and a sports bar that is open all day and provides room service until 11 p.m. The room service menu is limited.

I did like the hotel's proximity to the Parthenon replica in Centennial Park and to Ruth Chris' Steak House.
